OFFICIAL RULES
Who May Enter
Any commercial winery or distributor in the U.S. or Worldwide who meet Class definitions (see below) for Green wines and meet legal requirements for sale in the United States are eligible for entry.
Your wines must be generally available for purchase in restaurants, retail outlets, or online.
Classes & Definitions
Class 1: Certified Biodynamically Grown
Wines made from grapes certified by Biodyvin (France) or Demeter (USA or International)Wines entered in this category must be made from biodynamically grown grapes from certified vineyards. Acceptable third-party agencies include Biodyvin (France). and Demeter (USA or International). Proof of current certification must accompany your entry.
In addition to being certified organic, grapes grown in these vineyards must follow specified vineyard practices and in winemaking must adhere to required standards, such as using no genetically modified yeasts or enzymes.
Class 2: Certified Organic
Wines made from certified organically grown grapes. Wines in this category must be made from grapes grown in certified organic vineyards. This means that grapes are grown without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Sulfites may be added, but only up to 100 parts per million. Certification may be given by an accredited third party agency, such as CCOF, Oregon TILTH, or rance's ECOCERT. A copy of your certification from CCOF, Oregon Tilth, France's ECOCERT, etc. . Such certification must be up to date and a copy must be included with your entry.
A certifier statement on your label (such as USDA Organic) may also be used as proof for this category.
Class 3: Transitional & Third Party Certified
Wines made from grapes grown in vineyards transitioning to organic or biodynamic certification. This category is intended for those vineyards undertaking organic or biodynamic certification that have not yet completed the certification process. Proof of enrollment with third party certification agency (Demeter International, CCOF, Oregon TILTH, or France's ECOCERT must accompany your entry.
3rd Party Certified Wines -- Wines made from grapes with a 3rd party certification such as Lodi Rules, Oregon LIVE and Certified Salmon Safe programs may enter Class 3. A copy of your certification must accompany your entry.
Class 4: Natural (International Imports Only)
International wines made from grapes farmed without the use of chemicals. This category is open to International Imports ONLY. It is intended for those within the International community who have traditionally farmed without the use of chemicals, but who have not sought 3rd party certification. Wineries entering Class 4 must sign an affidavit (provided with the Class 4 Entry Form) that they do indeed farm their grapes without the use of chemicals of any kind. Wineries found to misrepresent themselves under these guidelines will be disqualified.
WHAT WINES QUALIFY TO COMPETE
Table, sparkling, fortified, fruit, and speciaty wines produced in any of the wine producing regions of the world and that meet applicable Class definitions and legal requirements for sale in the United States are eligible for entry.
HOW TO ENTER
Entries must be listed on the official entry form, either directly online or using an official entry form requested from info@greenwinecomp.info or downloaded from this site.
When using the paper entry from, please complete the ENTIRE form and sign to certify that the statements on the form are correct.
Wineries that misrepresent applicable certifications or any information will be disqualifies from this and subsequent Green Wine Competitions. Wine Competition Management, LLC, the producers of this competition, respect the integrity of Biodynamic(R) and organic wines and will strive to uphold their standards.
Failure to complete the form properly and remit the required labels may result in disqualifications.
AN OFFICIAL ENTRY CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Completed entry form
- Proof of certification for your Class (see definitions)
- A fee of $95 per wine entered
- A label for each wine entered
- Four (4) bottles of wine, each bottle no less than 750 ml (or more than 32 oz) in volume. If entering a dessert or other wine bottled in 375 ml, an entry will consist of six (6) bottles, plus entry form, certification, label, and $95 fee per wine entered.
US FUNDS ONLY
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. International wineries, please contact us for information on bank transfers. email info@nwwc.info.
LABELS
You MUST send us a separate label for each entry. We use your label to track your wine shipment and make sure that what you entered matches the wine that is sent. Here's how to send your labels:
- Upload a .jpg of the label in the online entry form (300 kb or less) OR
- If larger than 300 kb or entering via paper form, email a .jpg of the label to info@greenwinecomp.info OR
- Mail a copy of the paper label to:
(DO NOT SHIP WINE TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS.)
PLEASE NOTE -- Any wine that is delivered to the competition without a full and proper lab el will be disqualified from the judging. We will not accept wines with laboratory, temporary, photocopied or altered labels, and your entry fee will not be refunded.

WINE DELIVERY
International Import Information
Please email info@nwwc.info for instructions on how to import your wines if you do not have a U.S. distributor.
Please ship your wines to arrive between March 24 and April 25, 2008.
